Featured Business Person: Sue Seecof’s Interview with Dido Clark, Ph.D.
Here at Enlightened World Network, it is our great pleasure to welcome Sue Seecof.
Q: Sue, I am delighted to be doing this interview with you. I’m going to toot your horn here–you even got one of your clients onto the Oprah Show. But you’re so much more than a PR professional. You’re also a web developer, marketing professional, social media expert, and instructor–all in one person! Full disclosure here—I’ve been lucky enough to work with you as the copywriter on various web development projects, and that’s only made me a big fan of yours.
Over the years, I’ve seen you work on a variety of projects, so could you tell me what draws you to lightworkers, or why lightworkers are drawn to you?
A: I think it’s because I have a broad spiritual outlook. I believe there are many spiritual paths but it’s all one human journey, and I like to think I am in alignment with those who hold this as their touchstone. My personal spiritual practice centers around meditation. I love the services that lightworkers and all transformational professionals offer the world, which are, of course, so desperately needed.
Q: Could you say more about the lightworker projects you’ve worked on so far?
A: I’m grateful for my work with a variety of energy and Reiki workers, and various integrated mind-body-spirit organizations.
Q: People do tend to think of lightworkers as psychics or spiritual leaders, but here at Enlightened World we define lightworkers more broadly–as people who bring light into the world, into all kinds of professions and vocations. Could you say more about these clients?
A: Over the years, I’ve helped a number of therapists as well as health and wellness professionals, such as non-traditional healthcare practitioners. I’ve also worked with a lot of people who are bringing out transformation in their worlds, such as in co-housing, restorative justice, or environmental activism. I’ve offered one-on-one consulting to entrepreneurs, non-profits, and small businesses, both across the US and internationally. What many of my clients have in common is that they are heart-centered or spiritual in some way.
Q: I think your clients are attracted to working with you because you, too, are heart-centered and spiritual in outlook. So, could you talk about the approach to marketing that you have that helps your clients so much?
A: Sure. I think what is good is that I listen carefully and ask strategic questions to find out where my client is on their marketing and business building journey. I also listen for what I am not hearing—where there are gaps in my client’s knowledge or skills.
If someone is just starting out, I am happy to offer basic tips and tools to get them started. I also enjoy figuring out a customized plan tailored to each client that helps them take their business to the next level. There is no one-size-fits-all for any business, big, small, or medium. Then I help move each client along step by step so that they can build their businesses as affordably and as sustainably as possible.
A: Well, I’ve seen you in action. What is great is that you really care about helping your clients succeed. So, if that means you offer information and advice, you offer it kindly and sensitively, and at the right time. You’ve got all the skills it takes to be able to gently guide your clients so they don’t waste money getting lost down blind alleys and rabbit holes. Could you talk a little about the specific skills that you offer?
A: Yes. When it comes to social media, I can build the social network presence that is so important in any marketing campaign. When I co-create campaigns with my clients, I try to offer the most value and to make them easy to manage. I can do the hands-on work to design and maintain Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Twitter accounts but I am also happy to teach my clients how to do it too. I like to empower my clients whenever possible.
Q: Yes, you do a beautiful job of empowering your clients—even if it means they can eventually do without you! Could you talk a little about how your search engine optimization skills have optimized the websites you’ve built?
A: Of course. I make it my job to keep up to date around the ever-changing world of SEO. That means that any website I build can be found as easily as possible when someone is searching for their particular type of service. SEO is still an important part of any good marketing campaign.
Q: Newsletters and e-blasts are still important too, right?
A: Yes, they are. Building an email list is still key for anyone looking to build their business. I’ve worked with people who had non-existent lists and helped build them up to really healthy numbers. There is no magic wand, but with consistency, and a little creative magic, a business can thrive.
Q: How do you work with businesses that are interested in building their online presence?
A: I welcome new clients and offer a free 15-minute consultation to get to know each other. To get started, we will explore your goals, and consider the best path forward. When you are ready, I will customize a plan that fits within your budget and provides the most effective solutions.
Well, thanks so much Sue! I’ve really enjoyed talking with you.
