My Life With Tara

My Life With TaraBy Pamela Olivia Brown

I missed the memo about needing a spiritual awakening. I wasn’t aware that I was asleep, but my Higher Self knew otherwise.

Twisting out of a slumber that magicians wouldn’t touch if you had promised them a Las Vegas residency became my daily grind. I was asleep…deep, foreboding, suckling on karma peppered with fear and doubt.

Tara, sublime green goddess, appeared standing tall with arms open welcoming me to walk a different path, the one towards enlightenment. I made a U-turn. I didn’t have time for a stranger promising something I’ve never heard of. I clung to what I knew best: shadows.

The goddess tried a different approach. I allowed her to entertain me because I couldn’t outrun the shadows. They were on my heels, in my hair, on the walls making puppets mocking me.

Om Tara Tuttara Ture Svaha,
This is a healing for the heart.

Catchy…I played it in the background while doing dishes then left it behind with the dishtowel.

Tara is a mama, firm, gentle, compassionate. Dedicated. She didn’t walk away, for she was born to end suffering – mine, yours, our ancestors, and those yet to be incarnated.

Little did I know that she had been healing me as I slept, digging deep into my subconscious, uprooting what no longer served me. That mantra was on autopilot. Sometimes she let me know what needed eradicating so I could make a conscious choice between dark and light. Other times she and the angels worked hard, eradicating suffering from previous lives.

I woke up to inner peace and joy. Optimism. I felt Tara smiling, pouring green light from her heart into mine, and encouraging me to sing.

Om Tara Tuttara Ture Svaha,
This is a healing for the heart.

Tara sees fear from eight different perspectives and how they manifest in our daily lives. She lassos pride, ignorance, anger, jealousy, wrong views, miserliness and greed, attachment, and delusion better than Wonder Woman. But she doesn’t scoot them off to jail; rather she transmutes them into unconditional love. Karmic recycling. She sends the new energy to those in need.

Feeling lighter, happier, and ready to welcome enlightenment inspires me to share what helped me wake up from a living nightmare. I notice subtle changes in the air when I chant to myself walking around town. I experiment singing aloud. Embarrassment seeps in a tad when people pass then I got bold and changed the melody to jazz, folk, and pop. No one cared, but the seeds are sown.

Om Tara Tuttara Ture Svaha,
This is a healing for the heart.
