Honoring Your Body
By Dr. Ruth Anderson
How long are you planning on needing your body? For women in the United States, the average life expectancy is 81 years of age and for men it is 77.
If you are expecting to live another 20 to 40 years, are you treating your body in a way that it is able to sustain itself for that long? Are the foods that you eat and the liquids you drink nourishing and supportive to your bones and internal organs? Are you honoring your body’s need for restful sleep and movement?
Or are the daily lifestyle choices you are making negatively impacting… dare I say sabotaging… your goal of optimal health for decades to come? My dentist had a wall plaque that read, “Only floss the teeth you want to keep.” Sage advice indeed.
When Spirit asks us to honor our bodies, it is not just to be mindful of the gifts that were bestowed on us at birth. We are asked to be active participants each day in the manifestation of our healthy and fruitful future.
What can you do today that will honor your body both now and for years to come?
