It’s a Wonderful Life

By Sheryl Glick

Change begins subtly. The universe rewards progress with little surprises and miracles. Little messages from above in the form of coincidences or delightful occurrences bring smiles and pleasure to me and others on a daily basis. I have learned to be open to small miracles and to know that those who seek to give more than they take are often happier. This is the Law of Attraction, which says, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

Events that transpired over the next few days allowed holiday synchronicities and this Law of Attraction to present itself during the holiday season. I went into one of my favorite Italian restaurants and was handed two quarters and a dime at the counter. I went to put the money in my pocket. The dime dropped. As I stopped to pick it up, three dimes dropped to the floor. I picked them up. The woman next to me said, “You must have a hole in your pocket.” I reached into my pocket, and four quarters came out where I had only two before. No hole there. Then another dime fell out. I went to pick it up, as more dimes fell. Now, I had seven dimes and four quarters.” Where are the dimes coming from?” the woman asked.

“I don’t know. Perhaps, it’s like that movie, It’s a Wonderful Life. Do you know that movie?”

“Yes!” she responded.” Perhaps such little miracles or acknowledgments are from God and his helpers to lighten and brighten our days. Maybe, this incident was a message from my mother as the sequenced numbers 11-7, designated the month and day she died and also the day she crossed over into a new spiritual life. Perhaps she wanted to say hello or just amuse me. The coins dropping quite simply out of the air might have been spirit’s way of reminding me that the main character, George, in It’s a Wonderful Life, thought he had missed out on life and was a failure because he hadn’t made a lot of money. In reality, the angel, Clarence, showed George that if he had not lived, hundreds of people would have suffered, died, and been worse off. George’s acceptance of his life plan to remain in a small town and serve the people forgoing his dream to travel and have exotic experiences aligned to his higher nature of goodness, hard work, and resilience, and were in fact, what made a most wonderful life.
